Bike-packing & cycle racing

I have successfully completed several multi-month, self-sufficient bike-packing expeditions across many different countries all around the world.

5,300 km along the length of New Zealand was a definite highlight, as was 2,000 km from Latvia through Estonia & Finland to Russia. I've also raced across Scotland, around Madeira, as well as from London to Brussels and all around Europe, the Alps and the Italian lakes!

Camping outdoors for several months has reinforced my drive to develop a renewables-based economy, having experienced first-hand the detrimental effects of climate change. When I climbed Mt Cook in New Zealand, the snow had been turned brown with ash from the fires in Australia. Everywhere I go, people tell me they're battling unseasonably hot, wet, or windy weather.

Road racing, time trials and crits both at home and abroad have also been a big part of my cycling achievements. Racing a stage of the Tour de France in the Alps was especially fun!

In mountain-biking, whether it's riding down the world's most dangerous road in Bolivia, or through Hell's Gate National Park in Kenya, it's always a wild ride.

Hydro-biking is perhaps the most underrated sport out there. My brother and I got the bug in Noosa, Australia and now we actively seek them out wherever we go.

A really special cycling tradition is that on Christmas Day, a friend and I wake up early and cycle a loop of central London dressed as Santa playing Christmas songs on Boris Bikes - it's always the best and most fun way to start the day.
