​​I started backpacking when I spent a month travelling around Malaysia with a group of friends aged 16, where we also learnt to scuba-dive. Adventures around South America after school, months living in Uganda whilst at Oxford University, and exploring Australia during my Master's research soon followed, before two months discovering Southeast Asia prior to starting my Chemistry PhD back at Oxford.

It was during this last trip, on an expedition up Mt Rinjani in Indonesia, that I finalised my decisions to both start racing triathlons when I returned to the UK - having been lacrosse captain and a county swimmer at school - and to join the British Army. I had always thrived on physical challenges, especially those involving like-minded teams.

In the military, I quickly started cross-country skiing competitively. As I pushed myself further and faster, Ironman triathlons and ultra-marathons swiftly followed. I have since enjoyed racing at various world championships across multiple disciplines.

Always embracing new challenges and finding new ways to explore, I've completed many amazing self-sufficient bike-packing and trail-running expeditions across countries all over the world.

​When it comes to extreme sports - quad biking, sand dune boarding, snowmobiling, jet skiing, parachute jumping, canyoning, helicopter flying, trekking inside active volcanoes, kayaking, or even just stand-up paddleboarding on the river at home - I'll always say yes to any opportunity to try a new challenge!
